The community, the rarity, setting my alarm for 3am in the morning to be online for a drop (pain of living in europe).
It was the first “new” experience I’d felt in music for a decade.
… especially in digital music, which has faded into such productized, algorithm-driven, blandness.
Obviously we were in our little bubble that couldn't scale, but it was pretty magic and I miss it.
Anyway … shout out to @soundxyz_ for distributing their OP grant to artists. Always a joy to text a bunch of artists and tell them there’s a money waiting in their wallet.
the future is still onchain ... and I still believe there will be a market for "music as art" ... maybe just a little too early.
After everyone’s Spotify wrapped came out last month we were inspired to make the AotY game so that the fans could have a direct impact on cultural consensus and be rewarded for it. Meaning, we cooked this project up in just a couple of weeks from concept to launch, and thankfully, a week after launch, we’ve gotten great responses from early supporters of the mission to those who were just introduced to us. With that being said, we’ve gathered a ton of information on how we can build on this experience and further invest in those that engaged with us by creating more dope things for the community to enjoy. So due to popular demand, we’ll be extending the game deadline to January 17th, and we’ll reveal the leaderboard on the 20th. Keep an eye out for product updates throughout the week, as we’ll have some cool treats after the game closes for those who participated ✨
