For my final study of my PhD, I am investigating the effects of Kinesiology tape on exercise performance.
If you are a regular runner and would like to get involved, then please get in touch!
Kinesiotape or low dye tape for Plantar Heel Pain?
Both strategies may be effective for short term pain reduction in PHP. Consider patient preference, goal activities and previous response to taping.
Races are coming up fast, suddenly I’m seeing lots of athletes starting to panic about the amount of training they have (or haven’t) done.
the worst thing you can do right now is sabotage yourself trying to fit too much in over a condensed period.
Prep may not have been perfect, but it’s better to be fresh than burnt out at this stage.
Stay consistent and do what you can but don’t deviate and risk it all backfiring on race day.
The ACL epidemic in youth athletes, especially female athletes, is out of control. To me, it's at the point where it's sickening. Young athletes and their parents need more education on injury prevention, load management, and should be acting on what they learn…
Sky News's @RobHarris spoke to researchers who are examining whether hormones, biomechanics and training methods help explain why female players are up to seven times more likely to suffer from anterior cruciate ligament injuries than men.

“How do academy soccer coaches identify and assess game intelligence?”
Delighted to have this published in @JSportsSci. Congrats @AndrewTriggs on your 2nd publication from your PhD. Big thanks to @mjreevesphd, Joe Causer, and @allistair1980 for their valuable contributions.
Great start for the @lionsofficial winning the first test against Australia.
Accurate, reliable real-time data feedback - even in challenging environments like enclosed stadia - is our bread and butter.
The difference between our Apex technology and other companies is that our device contains an onboard metric processor, which provides perfect correlation between live and post-session data.
This provides high-performance practitioners like the Lions, New Zealand, South Africa, and Ireland with absolute confidence in their decision-making based on objective loads during training and match scenarios.

Box Squats and RFD?
The RFD and Rate of Tension or other metric of the week is certainly exciting on paper, but the measurement is inflated because it starts at zero velocity.
A higher peak force and jumping/sprinting qualities make any effort to train with RFD foolish.

Increasing step rate or reducing trunk flexion may help efficiency in some runners 🏃♂️
Lots to unpack so we’ve summarised the key findings in this graphic.

Interesting to see Liverpool incorporating recovery sprint specific triggers in their MSG training games.
In Amorim’s drill, the trigger is a coach’s whistle to simply sprint back into position.
In Liverpool’s version, defenders must recover and stop a goal attempt.
INFOGRAPHIC: Muscle activity during running 🏃♀️
Peak loads on the calf, hamstrings and hip flexors will increase significantly with faster running and sprinting.
