REDEEM
I love a bargain. As we've been buying gifts in preparation for Christmas, I've gathered up vouchers here and discounts there, cashback now and credit for the future.
The Jews thought God had waited too long to rescue them from Roman oppression, but God had a much bigger plan. At just the right time, God sent Jesus to redeem so many more - all of us us who are captured by sin - so that he could adopt us as his very own children.
COMFORT
I had the privilege of comforting one of the pupils who visited our church today when they had a brief wobble. It only took a moment, and a few minutes later they were smiling again and ready to move on with their day.
Reading Isaiah's picture of the Lord Almighty, ruler of the universe, as a gentle shepherd who holds his lambs close to his heart, brings me much hope. He always deals with us tenderly. [Isaiah 40:9-11] #imycadvent
Advent challenge, this year from @imycstaff. On the first day of Advent: HOPE. This is our 'hope' sign that we put in our living room window each year, though usually at least a week late 😂.
You could spend the whole day in Dromore this Saturday! It's Bookshop Day at @BridgeBooksDro1, the Courtyard Artisan Market is on, and you can invest in your wellbeing with @PatrickReganKH's "Brighter Days" book tour.
Good things are happening in this wee town!

There was a beautiful moment during worship at close of business last evening, when Conference held silence for an extended period, not because we had to, but because God was present and no-one dared break it. 'Be still, and know that I am God' #awesome#MCIConf23
Finally, here's a Spotify playlist with some of the songs we sang at #MCIConf23 ... Two and a half hours of auditory goodness!
I don't take the responsibility of selecting what we sing lightly, and am grateful to the others who gave their wisdom.

It was so good to participate in the Ordination Service - warm and long, but a joy to hear five ordinands' experience of Jesus' call, to share in worship and word with hundreds, and to return to distributed bread and wine for communion.

This was my first larger gathering wearing reading glasses. I know it's not news to everyone who has been wearing glasses for years, but I'm still finding it a curious experience, to have to choose between blurry words/chords or people!
Chris Walpole, Ellen Whalley and JJ Wilson were always encouraging when I met them while on Team On Mission and through the years at things like @CastlewellanHW and Conference.
I'm thankful for all these servants of God.

We are remembering @irishmethodist ministers who died in the past twelve months. It's a reminder that we are part of one big family across the island.
Bobby Bagnall taught me in @MethodyBelfast as a relief teacher from time to time in his retirement.

Winston Graham was beloved by the young people of his church and wider Methodism, carrying a winsome sense of God's presence.
Norman Taggart retired to my home church, I always appreciated the worship he led including stories of his and Margaret's time in Sri Lanka.
