NEW: Female police officer suspended after she sat in her car while a violent mob attacked a driver in the middle of the road.

The incident happened last week in Miami, Florida.

According to NBC6, the man stopped his car in the middle of the road in front of the police car. He then got out of the car to talk to the officer.

On his way back to the car, he was jumped by the thugs who beat him with a bike and demolished his car.

The female officer stayed in her car while the man was brutally beaten.

It wasn't until other officers arrived that the female cop got out of her car and walked over.

"The members of the Miami Police Department understand and take great pride in upholding their responsibility to protect and serve our community. We must act for the betterment of our community," said Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales.
