@AlanDaviesbirds There is simply a lack of balance in this debate. What would a Tory MP from Bucks know about the gamekeepers of N England? An Essex farmer told me he'd directed his gamekeeper to shoot all the hares on his land to stop harecoursers coming on the land..no science or reason.

I could've been in W Africa this afternoon with warm sun, 19 Eurasian Spoonbill, White-faced Whistling Duck, Ruddy Shelduck & Cattle + Little Egret in the heronry, but the dozing Barnacle Goose brought me back to reality, along with the yellow ring on the Whistling duck.

A nice opportinity to survey 3km of roadside verge in Cambridgeshire revealed a few interesting species such as Bee Orchid, Greater Knapweed, lots of Common Broomrape and a rather nice but unexpected bit of naturalised Knautia macedonica

Mandarin are now present in the upland streams and rivers of the Peaks in Derbyshire and the Chatsworth Estate where these reliefs of the species were on wallpaper & a beautiful ornate chest. The male Mandarin was chasing off rivals at Longshaw & got photobombed by baby Moorhen.
