Kalau melihat kembali 10 tahun perjalananmu, dari pertama kali datang dari Australia ke Korea untuk menjadi trainee sampai sekarang, menurutmu kapan momen yang paling menentukan buat Leo?

Leo : “Semua momen saat aku mengalami kegagalan.”

“Ada satu hal yang ingin aku sampaikan, bukan cuma kepada para penggemar, tapi juga kepada semua orang yang pernah ngobrol denganku. Menurutku, kegagalan itu adalah pelajaran terbesar. Aku berharap nggak ada yang takut untuk gagal. Aku bisa sampai sejauh ini juga karena pernah mengalami banyak kegagalan, baik yang besar maupun kecil.

Mulai dari masa trainee, mencoba menjadi penyanyi solo, sampai akhirnya ikut program survival, waktu itu aku bisa merasakan banyak pandangan dari orang-orang. Apalagi, kalau dilihat dari usia seorang idol, aku memang sudah agak lebih tua. Aku sempat berpikir panjang, “Kalau waktu itu aku terlalu memikirkan semua hal itu sampai takut gagal dan bahkan nggak berani mencoba, sekarang aku bakal ngapain ?”

Bagaimanapun juga, ini hidupku. Jadi meskipun aku menerima kritik dan komentar buruk, aku percaya kalau aku bisa sedikit menahan rasa sakitnya, masih akan ada masa depan yang lebih bahagia. Kalau sampai sekarang aku cuma terus memikirkan pandangan orang lain dan akhirnya nggak melakukan apa-apa, rasanya aku justru bakal jauh lebih tersiksa daripada sekarang.”

Harper’s BAZAAR : “Berkat pilihan berani yang kamu ambil waktu itu, sekarang kamu sudah bisa berdiri dan bernyanyi di panggung yang selama ini kamu impikan, sekaligus menerima banyak cinta dari penggemar di seluruh dunia. Sekarang, kamu punya mimpi apa ?”

Leo : “Karena kita nggak tahu seperti apa masa depan nanti, aku belum punya gambaran yang benar-benar jelas. Aku cuma ingin terus bermusik untuk waktu yang lama. Aku nggak tahu nantinya akan seperti apa, tapi selama aku masih beraktivitas sebagai ALPHA DRIVE ONE, aku ingin terus menulis banyak lagu.

Dulu, waktu aku masih lebih muda, aku nggak begitu paham dengan orang-orang yang bilang, “Semua orang pasti ingin hidup sambil melakukan apa yang mereka mau, cuma memang sulit untuk melakukannya.” Tapi sekarang aku sedikit lebih mengerti.

Mungkin aku nggak bisa melakukan 100% semua yang aku mau, tapi aku berharap, seiring berjalannya waktu, aku tetap bisa membuat musik dan menjalaninya dengan bahagia.”

🦁: Actually, I didn't have many nicknames when I was little... I was occasionally called Leelee. But after becoming part of ALPHADRIVEONE, it became one of my nicknames again. Back when I was in Australia, it was short for Lee Leo, but it was really cool how it gained a new meaning as "Leader Leo".

🦁: Fans are probably hearing this for the first time, so you might not get it right away... but my name is Jongyoon. It's my Korean name, but since I hadn't used it my whole life and people around me started finding out... whenever there's a cute moment, they go, "It's Jongyoon!". Sanghyeon jokingly calls me "King Jongyoon The First" as if he's praising me, and it's become a nickname I've grown really fond of.

🦁: As for how to become friends with me... when I think about what kind of person I can see consistently over several years... mmm, they shouldn't have higher energy than me. If my baseline energy level is a 5, I'm drawn to people with an energy level around 3 to 5, someone similar to me or with a slightly quieter personality.

🦁: And my recent interest! I think I've been getting more interested in fashion lately. Since I have more opportunities to dress up, I find myself looking closely at every single detail... Finding myself doing that made me realize I've fallen pretty deep into fashion.
