@jaubreyYT if the statement “true statements are statements” were true, the statement “statements are true statements” would be equally as true, but virtually no one thinks or says that.
Just an observation.
@ShoppDorothy@DrAmyPsyD and so the stats i provided are relevant. i hope you can look at them and better understand how drastically different financial burdens are today compared to yours in 1980, especially for those just entering the job/housing markets. Context & compassion are always helpful :)
@ShoppDorothy@DrAmyPsyD i used national averages for those numbers. not everyone lives in your part of the country, Dorothy. also the min wages are indeed national so you wouldve gotten paid at least $3.10/hr in 1980.
@ShoppDorothy@DrAmyPsyD av. cost of a house in 1980 adjusted for inflation was ~ 235K. Now it is ~440K. minimum wage in 1980 adjusted for inflation was $11.44. Now it is $7.25. In 1980 it wouldve taken ~10 years of minimum wage work to make 235K. Now it would take ~30 years of min wage work to make 440K
Radical Hospitality™️ will close these venues "until they can find entirely new staff they’ll be able to exploit."
These are great venues, but there is NOTHING IN THIS WORLD worth paying workers a wage they can't live on.
100% SOLIDARITY WITH THE WORKERS.
