Brutally honest thoughts about the Halo 7 concept art.
I apologise if this is a lengthy post but it is the end of an era so I’ll try be direct as possible.
First of all no Halo Infinite campaign DLC was disappointing. That really should have happened, so much of the overall campaign was cut and it’s a shame.
Second Infinite had amazing concept art, very little actually made it into the game overall, it’s done to allow developers to explore concepts and it saves resources.
Halo Studios were years away from anything playable after 5 years post Infinite. Far too long in between releases and it’s hard for anyone to be interested at all with gaps of 7+ years.
As someone who loves the lore but I don’t really publicise how much I follow along with it, it feels as though it’s all gotten quite convoluted and feels very messy.
Halo Books feel like required reading now and it’s made Halo feel far more niche than it should to actually know what’s happening in universe, I don’t mind reading the books but the average player never will, nor should they be required to, and that hurts Halo overall.
The extra information in the blog gave me the vibe of the Campaign Evolved bonus mission cutscene where the prophet is monologuing about the factions of the covenant, which has been picked apart to death by everyone.
The bonus missions for better or worse were a litmus test to see how Halo Studios Halo would be received, the wider gaming community absolutely hated it.
It clear how much passion the lore masters at Halo Studios had for the franchise, but it’s almost too much in a way, at least if you want a mainstream audience to want to be invested.
The ODST / Spartan rivalry was a great example, niche book info put into a mainstream media release equaled a rough reception.
(Rough dialogue did not help)
Halo at its core was very very mainstream so going super nerdy actually alienates a core audience of people.
Yes there’s something to be said about that, but it’s just how people are.
In any case, that’s the end of an era. Would’ve loved to of see offensive bias, the flood and endless built up more but that’s just how it goes.
I appreciate how much the devs cared about Halo, even if it didn’t resonate with everyone. It’s clear how passionate they are for the franchise.
I wish them all the best.
@RejectedShotgun The project requires an owned copy of Halo MCC
You can get the mods just like MCC on the steam workshop
It's free and you can come play with everyone here

@strippelhofff The irony that halo does the same.
Same engine but when you have active camo the hit reg becomes garbage and even if you land your shots it’s so hit miss on whether it actually deals damage
@aLTis69 its funny because what made halo's original trilogy so special to me was seeing how bungie worked around the technical limitations of the time
truly the end of an era
@DoomerSG I get a lot of comments from people saying they’ve picked up Halo again from my videos, but really I just like seeing Halo fans happy 🙂
We need more wins like this
@bork750 There was a few very popular halo 3 players back in the day who did this.
Armeddragon77 and Splatter Mac come to mind, I’m surprised I remember 😂
I remember back in 2009 my friend failed the year at highschool because he skipped so much school to play Halo 3 Big Team Battle.
.. and he only wanted to use vehicles in Heavies
