1/ On the eve of HK's Tiananmen massacre vigil, Beijing is now scrapping its promise of #1country2systems by circumventing HK’s legislature and directly imposing the most controversial national security law #article23 upon Hong Kong.
0355: tonight, in the following areas, people were heard screaming for help and being taken by police allegedly: Tai Po, Tuen Long, Sai Wan, Yau Tong, Shatin, Sau Mau Ping, Tin Shui Wai. #308HK#PoliceBrutality#BreakOfDawn
My friend Jimmy Lai, brave voice for free speech & basic rights in #HongKong, was arrested just hours ago by #Beijing puppet government. Transparent attempt to silence pro-democracy voices. While #coronavirus ravages China, repression is Beijing’s priority https://t.co/kx9JpXXtTM
Lord Alton said: “These arrests are shocking and represent yet another very serious setback for ‘one country, two systems’ and Hong Kong’s freedoms."

My friend Jimmy Lai, along with former lawmakers, were arrested this AM in HK for participating in peaceful protests. This is shameful.
They should be honored for their commitment to fighting for basic rights for Hong Kongers. Carrie Lam should consider her next moves carefully.
