Good on them to protest. This Hindi imposition isn’t a sign of unity or strength, it is a sign of weakness that shows an erosion of our respect for diversity. Absolutely no reason why those from non-Hindi speaking states like in the Northeast or South should be expected to understand Hindi. And where is the room or relevance for ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogans in an NCW workshop? Utterly misguided use of the platform in trying to impose Hindi & drum up Hindutva.

My Muslim friend made an interesting observation
Most Kerala Muslim Gen Z are the children of millennials who were educated, exposed to society and more fun-loving than the generations before them. So the usual stereotype of strict parents imposing rules and fatwas on rebellious kids may not apply here, because the parents themselves are not always that strict. Makes sense.

We have reputed doctors and professors in Kochi with surnames of Bhat, Pai , Shenoy. They speak Konkani in home.

Shenoys + Padma + Sridhar theatres are from Shenoys family

We also have shetty communities in Varapuzha Kochi they also speak Konkani at home- there is also a place called - Chettybhagam there most likely originated because of Chetty community
