It blends in its environment with closed wings, resembling a dead leaf, but when the wings open, it showcases a beautiful combination of orange, black, and blue. Males and females mostly look similar, but the female is a bit larger.

Orange oakleaf is the national butterfly of India.
Belonging to the Nympahlidae family, the Orange oakleaf (or Indian oakleaf, dead leaf) ranges across tropical Asia. It is known to mud puddle and fly around dense forests with high rainfall.

Niphilia pelpis (Giant golden Orbweaver) is the largest living Orbweaver found across East and Southeast Asia. Females are larger and grow to 30-50mm, while males grow up to only 5-6mm.

It is the second largest of the orb-weaving spiders apart from the recently discovered Nephila komaci. The first, second, and fourth pairs of legs of juvenile females have dense hairy brushes, but these brushes disappear as the spider matures.
In a year, these dragonflies make a multigenerational migration of 18,000 kilometers, with a single individual flying 6000 kilometers!
These dragonflies breed along the way. Their flight, aided by seasonal winds, spans many continents. They fly to India each year from Africa.
Their transparent wings help them camouflage and give protection from their bird predators. Poisonous Plants of the genus ‘cestrum’ are the source of nutrition for the caterpillars. Adult species feed on common plants like lantana and flowers of family Asteraceae and Boraginaceae

The adults glasswing butterflies having transparent wings, showcase an interesting pattern of colors in their life span. Caterpillars have green bodies bright purple and red stripes. Pupae are silver in color.
Glasswing butterflies belong to the largest family of butterflies: Nymphalidae. These beautiful butterflies are known to stand on four legs while the other two are curled up. They have brush-like hair on their forelegs gives this family its common name.
