I’m looking to #connect with people who are trying to live intentionally rather than drift through life.
I write about fitness, learning, philosophy, and building, and I’m currently learning more about writing, business, product development, AI, and audience growth.
If you’re on a similar path, tell me what you’re building.
A “fast metabolism” isn’t magic. It’s actually a combination of these mostly invisible things like organ size, NEAT, exercise level, and the thermic effect of food.
Instead of asking “is my metabolism slow?”, start asking “what is actually different about my energy intake and expenditure?”.
Everyone knows that guy who seems to eat mountains of food while staying effortlessly skinny.
The explanation you always hear is “he has a fast metabolism”, but that’s just a vague oversimplification.
Here’s what’s actually happening:
@micheal_ws18 Unfortunately, most people think stronger muscles are the only benefit.
The elderly don’t know they could prevent fractures from denser bones.
The person with low self-esteem doesn’t know they could improve their confidence.
There’s so many benefits beyond getting jacked.
@danellisona The worst part about trying to build something is letting a good idea keep you up at night. You know you need sleep, but the idea just keeps coming back again and again.
@Jainadave_ I’ve had some people ask whether stretching causes similar muscle growth to lifting weights. Physiologically it makes sense, but it actually takes about 7x longer to grow muscle from stretching compared to lifting weights. Basically, lift weights.
@DorianB112 I’ve been doing BSSs weekly for years now. Used to have glute issues but not anymore. Incredibly effective and beneficial lift when you have proper form.
@ChrisWillx Everyone in the comments acting like they’re not that person. I’ll be the first to admit I’m negative and complain more than I should. But it’s really not a beneficial mindset. I have to diligently remind myself to be positive and optimistic, but I’m better off for it
@jackdcoulson Agreed, mostly, but a calorie deficit isn’t always required and steady state zone 2 cardio can also be huge for getting lean when done right.
The best way to getting and staying in shape is actually pretty simple
Consistently do the right things most of the time for a long time.
Don’t chase perfection, but still hold yourself accountable.
@EvansNegro People can see the shredded body, but not the discipline you had to build to achieve it. Being shredded gets a bad reputation for being superficial, but the people who think that way will never understand what it takes.
@KenDBerryMD Exactly why fueling is so important for exercise. Fats = best for long steady state exercise. Carbohydrates = best for moderate-high intensity efforts. Creatine = best for explosive 8-10 second movements
