@metal_monkee @N1CAT33N here's my response to op from earlier that has examples in the middle. privilege is not experienced as a boost it's more like the absence of a problem. it's harder to recognize because of that, but a way to make it more clear is to look at the experiences of others

@metal_monkee @N1CAT33N put it this way: cis and trans men do not have access to identical privilege for being men. they do each have access to some kind of it for being men at different times. trans men, especially, have this in trans places. this isn't a slight or anything, it's just literally true

@metal_monkee @N1CAT33N obviously still oppressed even with "male privilege". having it doesn't make you not oppressed and it doesn't make trans men identical to cis men. that's not the point being made. you can (and do) access privilege in some ways even when you are oppressed in others

@metal_monkee @N1CAT33N like i wouldn't describe being a trans man as a "privileged" position in general but especially in the context of the trans community, men can and do benefit from misogyny kinda inarguably. it doesn't have to be on purpose to be privilege is kinda the point

@metal_monkee @N1CAT33N i don't think this is true, really! trans/queer community isn't a utopian misogyny-free zone, and it often does prioritize men. being men does grant some degree of privilege (and does not inherently apply to nonbinary people/require that reduction)
