“Radikal na pagmamahal”… what happened to that?

I left Twitter after the 2022 elections because this platform became too toxic for me. I campaigned for Leni, I went house to house. I learned that personal conversations work better, and I did the same during the recent 2025 elections..this time with my own relatives (Solid DDS roots from Visayas). Some still voted for questionable candidates, but many chose Kiko-Bam. That’s progress. That’s still a win.

And yet, I kept hearing the same painful line: “Okay sana si Leni kaso yung mga supporters niya.” Elitista. Mapangmata. Entitled. Even a Nanay and her teenage daughter once told me, “Eh parang hindi naman ka-belong belong sa inyo.” That’s the reality of how some people feel.

I only came back here because of Shukla. This account started just for polls and QR codes. The DDS issue had already resurfaced during nomination week, but I held on to hope because she chose Angat Buhay with Ate Klang. I believed her influence on Shuvee would shift, knowing how much she values Ate Klang’s words. I saw her journey in PBB, which is why I turned this page into support for her.

But then that old video resurfaced. What could have been a moment for growth, some of you turned into just another example of online cancel culture.

Radikal magmahal. Magpamulat ng iba para hindi na muling pumikit.

And yet here we are, quick to crucify, blind to the bigger picture. Real talk..That mindset is one of the reasons why we lost it. Some of you here can’t even open your minds to possible converts. DDS accounts are thriving while we keep repeating the same cycle: dividing, subtracting, cancelling.

While Shuvee was being shamed here, DDS pages on other platforms used the issue to push their agenda (see 3rd photo..yes 13k likes.. 200k views yikes).

But I choose hope. I’ll put my trust in Shuvee’s journey..not as someone perfect, not as an enemy, but as a fellow Filipino learning, changing, and capable of influencing more with the right people around her.

Calling out should be about reflection, not division. Yet many here choose to weaponize words instead of fostering understanding.

Radikal magmahal. Pero kung itataboy natin ang mga handang makisama… paano pa tayo aangat bilang kilusan?

I took my time to process Shuvee’s issue, and along the way I had some realizations. Bear with me, this is gonna be lengthy.

Shuvee said things I completely disagree with, and I won’t dismiss that. But I also remind myself that she said those before she entered PBB. Inside the house, she had her mishaps, shortcomings, and violations, but with those came lessons she’ll surely carry with her. As Kuya said, “Isang housemate na marunong tumanggap ng kamalian.” I want to believe that PBB helped her grow.

I also want to believe that her heart is in the right place, even if her beliefs were clouded. Years ago, she openly condemned EJK, spoke against abuses of the PNP, and was disheartened by the ABS-CBN shutdown. When she said, “I stand for and with the Filipino people—always,” I truly believe she meant it. To me, she was just also a victim of the disinformation machinery that the Marcos-Duterte system has spread for years. Yes, she was old enough to know better. But, like many others, she was caught in an echo chamber where lies were repeated so often they started to sound like truth, and breaking free from that cycle takes both courage and awareness she may not have fully had at the time.

This made me realize, if we want a better government, we can’t deprive people of the chance to change. Those who want to be educated deserve patience and guidance. With 2028 ahead, we need allies, not enemies. That means being open to people like Shuvee, who are still learning, so that one day she can fight alongside us.

When she said, “Huwag po kayong mag-alala, natuto na po ako,” I choose to hold on to that. I choose to hope for her growth. I still believe she has to improve in terms of being more vocal and political. Her wide and growing platform must be used to speak more courageously; hence, I choose to believe that patience now can lead to stronger voices for the people in the future. We cannot afford to lose again in 2028. Kailangan natin ng mga lalaban kasama natin.
