Believing that God is trustworthy to keep His promises, and that Jesus was a reliable messenger of the kingdom, is not equivalent to believing in inerrancy. The NT writers are clearly grappling (in the spirit) with how best to understand what has happened and what was said.
"Scripture interprets scripture" just means "My favorite scriptures, or my favored theological system, overule disruptive scriptures."
Early Christianity was, from its inception, theologically diverse.
No one should be ordained priest without some solid knowledge of philosophy besides theology. How can they possibly perform their ‘clerical’ task otherwise? This is more needed today than before, because almost everyone is influenced by pop philosophy in some sense or other.
