At a digital currency conference, Bill Gates highlighted #Somaliland as global leader in digital currencies, creating the first cashless society in the world.
Even without formal international recognition, Somaliland has achieved remarkable milestones. In 2017, it became the first country in the world to use iris-recognition technology in a presidential election to prevent voter fraud. It is also one of the rare places where a presidential candidate lost by a mere 80 votes and peacefully accepted the outcome in 2003. Furthermore, Somaliland proved international institutions wrong: while the UN’s top-down peace process in Somalia failed, Somaliland’s bottom-up, community-led reconciliation succeeded, defying the UN’s 1993 prediction that Somaliland's bottom-up approach would inevitably fail. Today, Somaliland stands as a global pioneer of both democratic resilience and the cashless economy.
This Is a Vision for Economic Transformation, Not Just Political Soundbites!
If you listen carefully, three major road projects are planned to begin next year: the Burco–Oodweyne–Hargeisa highway, the Hargeisa–Ina Guuxa road, and the Burco bypass.
These are not just roads; they are vital economic arteries connecting people, businesses, markets, and communities, creating opportunities for trade, investment, and economic growth.
At the same time, Burco is positioned to become a major national healthcare hub, serving Somaliland and the wider region.
This is what a long-term development vision looks like: connecting infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunity to build a stronger Somaliland.
@Republicn5 Just happy news all around today well done to the Republic of Somaliland we need no part taking in the terror filled failed state of Somalia antics and we’ll be ignoring your turmoil. Good work Republic 👏
@Somali1and You need to understand this is where the allegations all came from this was done on purpose to get the people of Somaliland to take action and what better way to do that then start up the clan Haberjeclo but they don’t know we are miles ahead
This new hospital in Burao, set to be the largest medical facility in the eastern Somaliland, demands real accountability. Over the past months, the Ministry of Health has sparked widespread controversy, with multiple corruption cases emerging.
I urge the Emiratis to ensure this project is meticulously planned, executed, and delivers lasting impact for #Somaliland. As someone from Burao, I am deeply invested in ensuring that funds aren’t squandered, as we have seen in Hargeisa hospital under Taiwan.@amjadt25, @FormulaRauda@AQ_Almenhali and @sultanwho, you are the digital voices of #UAE 🇦🇪 - keep an eye on this and look for the team behind this project to demand full transparency. As an architect, I have reviewed the one-level design which doesn’t look the price tag but the true legacy will depend on how it will be executed. Will this be a milestone for the Emiratis, or just another misused opportunity by officials.
