To be on the safe side, I am putting #Ad on this post!
It is that time of year when you might be considering a textbook, handbook and digital resources for the #LCBusiness course.
First of all - you can access the full flipbook and exam handbook of #BusinessAlive here without a login if you want to try them out -
https://t.co/zusZA5uekr
So here is the pitch:
The layout of the book follows the layout of the specification EXACTLY - with both the LHS and RHS of the table of learning addressed.
The relevant section of the table of learning from the specification is at the START of each chapter, including the LHS and RHS (see 1st image below for an example)
The package includes:
*📸 1200+ colourful images

If you want to try out the book with current 6th years (old syllabus), then the CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT 2022 is on page 405 onwards and would be useful for them - see image below.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or want more information or access to resources.
Thank you

Israel ARRESTED this 13 year old Palestinian girl.
According to the law just passed, she could now be executed “legally” in the prison.
Please don’t let them kill her. Repost this.

This RTÉ item (linked below) about 'Brewdog' tracks the rise and fall of the business. There are many links here with the LC Business course.
A LC, TY or JC student could select a business that interests them that lost market share or went out of business altogether.
They could track its rise and fall by searching for media items like this one and summarising key points or by simply drawing out a timeline.
See screenshots below for some INVESTIGATIVE FOLDER challenges and ideas taken from page 286 +302 of Business Alive.
Some specific examples of huge firms that are no longer with us are given in the images on pg. 272 - the screenshot is also attached.

The addictive nature of Tik Tok is in the news today.
Tik Tok operates an "advertising supported business model"....see the LHS of the table of learning under "Business Planning"
An edited version of this RTÉ Brainstorm item with questions based on the Unifying Strand is on page 186 of Business Alive.

The class activity in the image is on page 230 and might lead to students reflecting on the amount of time they spend on social media.

Self-Service Terminals and Behavioural Science.
The first few paragraphs of this item might be useful for the project for some students who might be be researching self- service terminals replacing employees.
https://t.co/dK1KXHT9OD
Customers spend more at a terminal than at a till, according to this BBC item. However, the relevant statistic comes from a firm that sells the technology so the source needs to be checked for accuracy credibility and reliability (see the Unifying Strand for the relevant LO)
Here is a really good video that analyses the way items are presented at McDonald's self service terminals...it is eye opening!! (Note that there are adverts built into this video for watches!)
https://t.co/JCAppecJYx
Here is the cigarette advert that is referred to in the BBC item.
https://t.co/5KBKobaprx
The cigarette advertisement can be used in Economics in relation to market failure and the need for regulation.

The Mercosor trading bloc is in the news today.
The relevant LO is in the screenshot along with a brief description and a YouTube video clip suggestion.

Never forget Vicky Phelan, three years departed today. A modern Irish hero who refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement, ensuring that the Cervical Check scandal became public.
May she rest in peace

The tracker mortgage scandal is in the news thanks to the documentary RTE are showing this week.
This short video clip from a few years ago gives a good summary/overview of the scandal.
https://t.co/LlsqxyOUKl
The scandal is relevant to both subjects in relation ro the role of the Cental Bank of Ireland.
In relation to LC Business it is also relevant to the following LO:
"Investigative how the financial services industry is regulated and discuss the potential consequences of under-regulation"
(LO 4.2.6)
The different types of mortgages are described on page 438 of Business Alive.
