Was convinced that I must have contracted the hand, foot and mouth that’s been going around at nursery for a minute there because of blisters were forming on my hands. Then I remembered that I’d spent 20 minutes earlier struggling to undo a screw top on a bottle of Irn Bru.

@maagaggie @edinhelp Relieved to say that it has finally been cleared, however it sounds like a lot of work is left for the Education dept @Edinburgh_CC to prevent repeat tipping and secure the site.

The fly-tipping has been joined by further rubble blocking the road and now no vehicles can access the site (again). All involved are reporting it to @edinhelp but it really is terrible. It’s not safe dropping children off to a site that is inaccessible to emergency vehicles.

This rubbish has now been here for a month😡. While @Edinburgh_CC investigate the fly tipping the mess is left to slowly spread across the site in the wind. Hugely disappointed. I can’t imagine any other place of education where this would be considered acceptable.

Imagine how it feels to be a small child starting your day by passing this, and how likely it is that someone could get hurt on their way in. Kids walk and cycle by this and staff and family vehicles are at risk of damage too. @edinhelp

@edinhelp I’m pleased that it is being investigated but is it possible for the rubbish to be cleared in the meantime? I think it’s encouraging other vandalism in the area. I’m still Not driving to the early years entrance incase of a puncture. Plus, the wind is blowing it further each day.

Sadly we arrived this morning to hear from staff that apparently further rubbish was tipped at the end of last week @edinhelp - some debris has been cleared from the road, but it’s still a hazard for staff, children and families, with smashed glass across the road.

Flytipping at a nursery entrance - @edinhelp are slow to clear it and don’t appear to be preventing it from happening again. This is the only road to Hawkhill Forest Kindergarten, preventing vehicle access. It was reported yesterday and is not an isolated case 👇🏼@EdinburghLive_
