After 2014, India’s space program and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) continued to make significant advancements. Notably, the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) in 2014 marked India’s success as the fourth space agency to reach Mars orbit. The launch of numerous satellites for communication, navigation, and remote sensing, including the Cartosat series, further enhanced India’s space capabilities.

ISRO’s successful launch of the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019 aimed to explore the Moon’s south pole region. They also continued to develop the GSLV Mk III rocket, which can carry heavier payloads into space. The establishment of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme (Gaganyaan) with plans to send Indian astronauts to space demonstrated their commitment to human spaceflight.

Commercialization of space also played a role, with ISRO launching satellites for other countries and contributing to a thriving satellite launch market. Additionally, the government’s reforms helped facilitate private sector involvement in space activities.
