I am shocked and saddened by the nationwide incidents that killed at least six students and injured thousands by gunfire and sharp weapons wielded by the terrorists of the Awami League and law enforcement agencies. Students from various educational institutions across the country are protesting for the reform of the 56% quota system in Bangladesh's employment sector, demanding fair and equal opportunities based on meritocracy.

The barbaric Sheikh Hasina regime, illegally seizing state power through sham elections, has once again proven that there is no space for innocent students to express their legitimate demands, let alone for opposition political opinions.

I pray for the peace of the souls of those who were killed, for the quick recovery of the injured, and beg Allah to grant the families of the victims the strength to endure this grief and pain. I call upon everyone, regardless of party affiliation, to unite against the atrocities of this illegal government.

ইরানের প্রেসিডেন্ট ইব্রাহিম রাইসি এবং পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হোসেইন আমির আবদোল্লাহিয়ানসহ বিধ্বস্ত হেলিকপ্টারে সব জেষ্ঠ্য কর্মকর্তাদের নিহত হওয়ার বেদনাদায়ক ঘটনায় গভীর শোক ও দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেছেন বিএনপি’র ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান জনাব তারেক রহমান।

আজ এক শোকবার্তায় বিএনপি’র ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান বলেন, “গতকাল ইরানের পূর্ব আজারবাইজান প্রদেশের জোলফা এলাকার কাছে মর্মান্তিক হেলিকপ্টার দূর্ঘটনায় ইরানের প্রেসিডেন্টসহ সরকারের জেষ্ঠ্য কর্মকর্তাদের নিহত হওয়ার ঘটনা খুবই হৃদয়বিদারক এবং ইরানের জনগণের ন্যায় বাংলাদেশের জনগণ ও বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল—বিএনপিও সমব্যাথী। ইরানের রাষ্ট্রপতি রাইসির গতিশীল নেতৃত্ব ছিল বৈশ্বিক। বিশ্ববাসী তাঁর বিচক্ষণ নেতৃত্ব থেকে বিশ্ববাসী বঞ্চিত হলো। দেশের জন্য দায়িত্ব পালনকালে ইরানের রাষ্ট্রপতি তাঁর সঙ্গীদেরসহ যেভাবে দূর্ঘটনায় পতিত হয়ে দুনিয়া থেকে চলে গেলেন তা ইরানসহ বিশ্ববাসী কখনোই বিস্মৃত হবে না। ইরানের রাষ্ট্রপতির মৃত্যুতে বাংলাদেশীরা আপনজন হারালো বলেই মনে করে।

আমি ইরানের রাষ্ট্রপতিসহ জেষ্ঠ্য কর্মকর্তাদের বিদেহী আত্মার মাগফিরাত কামনা করছি এবং শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবার—পরিজনসহ শুভানুধ্যায়ীদের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানাচ্ছি। মহান আল্লাহ তা’আলা ইরানের জনগণ এবং তাঁদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের যেন এই অপূরণীয় ক্ষতি কাটিয়ে ওঠার শক্তি দেন‌ সেই কামনা করছি।”
