Rest in peace to all the brothers and sisters who lost their lives, actually they didn’t lose their lives their lives were taken. Their sacrifice and blood will not go unanswered and will not be in vain, eventually their courage will forever demand justice 🙏🏾

Exactly 85 years ago today, Benjamin Mkapa, Tanzania's third president, was born in Lupaso village, southern Tanzania
He was elected President in 1995 after the country restored multiparty politics and became the first-ever presidential candidate to date from the ruling CCM party to agree to participate in a presidential debate with opposition candidates
He helped to nurture democracy throughout his 10-year presidency, while strengthening government institutions and modernising the economy
Here's how Tanzania's GDP fared under Mkapa compared to Kenya, it's rival economic powerhouse in East Africa:
✅ In 1995, when Mkapa became president, Tanzania was just a $5 billion economy, while Kenya was twice as large as a $9 billion economy
✅ By the end of Mkapa's first term in office in 2000, he almost tripled the size of Tanzania's economy to $13.3 billion, overtaking Kenya ($12.7 billion)
✅ As Mkapa left office in 2005 at the end of his second and final term in office, Tanzania was a $18.4 billion economy, at par with Kenya's GDP ($18.7 billion)
Under his successors, the size of Tanzania's GDP has not grown as fast as the speed recorded during Mkapa's administration
As a result, by 2022, the size of Tanzania's economy was $75.7 billion, significantly behind Kenya's economy at $113.4 billion
* Mkapa died in 2020 at the age of 81

There are no words to fully express our condemnation of Israel's bombing of a #Gaza hospital today, killing hundreds of people. Targeting a hospital, considered a safe haven under International Humanitarian Law, is a war crime. The International Community must act now.
We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Michael Gambon. He brought immeasurable joy to Harry Potter fans from all over the world with his humour, kindness and grace. We will forever hold his memory in our hearts.

They were Presidents William Tolbert of Liberia, Siaka Stevens of Sierra Leone, and General Yakubu Gowon of Nigeria.
They argued that it was in the best interests of African dignity, and Africa’s image abroad, that the body be returned to Ghana. Nkrumah’s body was eventually released by Toure and buried in Ghana.
As Afrikans, we have a distasteful propensity of betraying our most devoted patriots.
Sadly, same Betrayal continues or continued to happen to Sankara, Lumumba, Hani, Tiro, Biko, Zuma, Cabral, Dedan Kimathi and countless other sons of Afrika. And we regret the aftermath.
BOT can recommend the termination of employment contract of the senior officer of any Bank or Financial Institution registered in Tanzania.
