If you still care about “mother nature on the run”, this is your opportunity to make your voice count & state your opposition to the proposed weakening of environmental laws across Europe. Great article by @MiseAnja on defending the laws protecting nature https://t.co/5uyDRCxs1S
If you have a long-flowering meadow, don't mow yet! Wait until September to let the seeds drop, and leave some areas uncut for overwintering insects.
August's seeds feed next year's bees!
We welcome these measures, they will help, but why no quota on boats <18m, despite them taking 46% of all sprat caught in 2024? The fishery is still open to huge overfishing & is data deficient? This keystone species deserves watertight protection. @timmydooley@MichealMartinTD
To put this in context, the terrible 1929 Hebron Massacre, one of the worst tragedies suffered by the Jewish community in Mandate Palestine, resulted in 69 innocent deaths. It has been the subject of many books and studies, and is still constantly referenced. Now around double this number of innocent Palestinians are killed in Gaza EVERY DAY and our governments do absolutely nothing.
It is unbelievable how nonchalantly leaders like @kajakallas and @vonderleyen continue to ignore (and stand against) intl law and the decisions of the highest intl Courts re Israel: among others, I shall remind them, the ICJ ordered Israel to:
- withdraw its troops and remove settlers from the WHOLE OF THE OPT by September 17, 2025 and meahwile
- other states not to recognise, aid and assist Israel in its wrongdoings.
No one can ask Israel to ensure anything other than LEAVING and then responding to justice. It is that simple.
Instead, @kajakallas and @vonderleyen's persistence denote knowledge, intent and purpose, which shall be missed by the relevant authorities when assessing their failure to prevent and stop genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, and bring to an end the underlying unlawful occupation.
Lead shot to be banned in England, Scotland and Wales. There's no safe level for lead. It's a highly toxic poison being released into the environment. This is good for wildlife and human health.

Don't like being in front of the camera, but it's for a very worthy cause, so made an exception. Support @SaveOurSpratWC and @saveoursprat and demand the Irish Government puts a stop to unregulated and unsustainable Sprat fishing. #SaveOurSprat

I hope the Egyptian authorities will not take orders from the genocidaires and will facilitate the speedy passage of those human beings who have left everything behind trying to break the siege via land and sea from its coast.
Our latest research shows spot-on flea treatments on dogs are released into water when dogs swim even 28 days after treatment - in contrast to the label which suggests dogs can safely swim 48 h after treatment.

Growing up in rural Ireland there is an unspoken code that private property rights are supreme & you dont squeal on your neighbour.
That culture hasnt served our environment or communuties well & its a conversation that needs to be had.

Rivers polluted, prosecutions taken, Probation Act applied - some @InlandFisherIE cases recently concluded show polluters getting away with making donations to charity when taken to court

We did mention we had news?
We've just acquired all of the Sheanadh Gharráin woods east of the Bhoth Loiscthe River in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
35 acres of rainforest awesomeness are now protected, plus 47 acres of space for them to stretch into !
Loving listening to this piece on Lapwing on @RTElyricfm with @MiseAnja and team https://t.co/aqCByug54u Lapwing are pretty fab. This is a really hopeful piece. Going from 2 pairs of breeding Lapwing to 70pairs at Cooldross wetland in Kilcoole. Conservation works. #RestoreNature
Our new paper, based on data from 1,705 studies, shows that pesticides are toxic to organisms they are not intended to harm, including fungi, microbes, plants, insects, & vertebrates such as ourselves. Questions the wisdom of applying over 3 million tonnes of them every year...
150ha of Special Area of Conservation in Cork destroyed by illegal burning. NPWS investigating says it "will cross-report any identified breach of the law to DAFM & a sanction may be applied under Conditionality to affected Farmer(s) area based payments".
