It's best to approach a negotiation from a reasonable position and work in a fashion that benefits both parties. Y is simply losing credibility and willingness to do deals with him

Its much better to deal him now when you have a team ready to overpay value-wise instead of wait and diminish his value

@yesac2004 @realph_7 @HeleneStJames "Free" is first round picks and NHL prospects. There's no reason Det can't take futures and flip them for pieces they want. Ottawa did it with their captain (younger and better btw). Yzerplan getting shown up by Ottawa.

In waiting, Detroit has missed their window and now either take the futures or sit their 8 mil captain in the press box. Id rsther have NHL caliber prospects than a press box headache, down 8 mil in cap.

@domluszczyszyn Overpaid at 3.3? For a guy who is perfect for every role that team needs from their bottom 6? Center, PK, faceoffs, physicality, and has a drive to win.

Plus he is a locker room favorite in less than 2 months

Plus the UFA pool this year is BAD.
