@DiRRec_Gaming_ I know Steam doesn’t capture the entire player base, but it’s still a useful benchmark when you compare it to other games. When titles like Chinese Parents and Farming Simulator 17 have higher all-time peaks than a brand-new Gears release, that’s not a great sign.
Bonus out and open racial discrimination.
And of course, the series wouldn't be complete without also showing you the product/end result of their activism.
(well technically the end result is studio closures and layoffs. but let's just say DA: Veilguard is a visual demonstration of that)
The original Epic Games crew that made the first Gears games moved on after Microsoft bought the IP in 2014. The Coalition took over and, like much of the industry, shifted hiring and priorities toward diversity and inclusion goals. Kate Rayner, their longtime technical director who transitioned, now publicly focuses on LGBTQIA+ visibility and representation in the studio and the games.
Anyone who bought Gears of War: E-Day has now had some time to experience it for themselves.
WHAT IS YOUR VERDICT?
Is it as bad as we all thought it would be? Is it worse? Or is it “okay”?
Should @CoalitionGears@GearsofWar be shut down as a studio like Halo Studios?
If The Coalition studio is shut down, which developer would you want to make the next Gears game?
I refuse to play it, even via GamePass, I will not support a developer who uses games as a vehicle to push their own personal ideologies and views. Games should be games, and should not be hijacked like every other form of media. I am tired of it.
