VICE GANDA UNDERSCORES IMPORTANCE OF EDSA PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda sparked discussions on Tuesday, February 25, by highlighting the significance of commemorating the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution during the Showtime Sexy Babe segment of It's Showtime.

In the live episode, Vice Ganda emphasized the peaceful nature of the historic uprising, calling it a "bloodless revolt" where Filipinos united to fight for democracy without violence.

"Ang People Power, it is a bloodless revolt. Ito ay pakikipaglaban ng mga Pilipino nang walang dumanak na dugo. Mapayapang pamamaraan ng pakikibaka... Napakaraming Pilipino ang pumunta ng EDSA para magkaisa, mapayapang makipag-usap, mapayapang nakiusap lalo na sa kasundaluhan," Vice Ganda said.

As co-host Vhong Navarro chimed in about how protesters gave flowers to soldiers, the show played Magkaisa, the iconic anthem of the People Power movement.

Vice Ganda further explained that the revolution restored power to the people after years of dictatorship.

"Ang kapangyarihan ay bumalik sa tao... Dahil sa People Power, ang kapangyarihan ay naibalik sa tao, at ang mga tao ang nagdikta kung ano ang gusto nilang mangyari sa bansang ito noong panahong iyon," Vice Ganda continued.

Co-hosts Jhong Hilario and Kim Chiu echoed the sentiment, pointing out that the revolution led to freedom and reinforced the country's democracy.

Vice Ganda also reflected on how younger generations may not fully grasp the event’s impact, stressing the importance of discussions like these. The EDSA Revolution was even recognized internationally, with former President Cory Aquino being honored abroad.

"Magandang napag-uusapan natin 'yan lalo na sa mga ganitong panahon... Kasi 'yong mga bata nga, ano kayang alam nila talaga sa nangyari sa People Power?" Vice Ganda remarked.
