it’s wild how heartbreak feels so singular when you’re in it. like damn, how has anyone ever survived this? then you read books and listen to music and talk to people, and realise the heartbreak club is literally almost everyone in the world. nearly everyone is walking around having survived some unbearable grief or sorrow. it is impossible to live fully and come out unscathed
It has become clear to me that aging itself does not bring wisdom. It often brings regression to childishness, dependency & bitterness over lost opportunities. Only those who are still intellectually, emotionally, spiritually growing inherit the richness of aging.~James Hollis
Someone disrespecting your wife at a moment of extreme vulnerability immediately after child birth is NOT banter
Wanaume mjiite mkutano because this is not it
you will be tempted to show that you are doing well, but it is important you resist the urge to perform for an audience that don't matter - and maybe isn't even watching
I can’t always be angry at people for the choices they make. Their decisions are part of their journey, just as mine are part of mine. They’re allowed to choose the life they want, even when those choices take them somewhere I can no longer follow. And maybe that’s all it has to be. Not every ending needs someone to be wrong. Not every distance needs someone to blame. Sometimes two people simply make different choices, grow in different directions and eventually realise they’re no longer aligned. That doesn’t mean what you shared wasn’t real. It doesn’t mean the love, friendship or memories didn’t matter. We simply reach a point where our paths no longer fit together. And that’s okay. We’re all just living out our own journey and sometimes letting each other go is part of it.
where others write to remember, i write as an act of exorcism. to articulate a thought is to surrender it, giving it a body on the page so my spirit no longer has to carry its weight.
Let us say this prayer of St. Padre Pio:
Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You. You know how easily I abandon You.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, that I may not fall so often.
Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will.
Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much and always be in Your company.
Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.
Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of love.
Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close. Life passes, death, judgment, and eternity approach. I fear the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. How I need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile.
Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of the bread, so that Eucharistic Communion may be the light that disperses the darkness, the strength that sustains me, and the unique joy of my heart.
Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I seek: Your love, Your grace, Your will, Your Heart, Your Spirit. I love You and ask no other reward than to love You more and more.
