@Desmos is there a way to take your teacher account “with you” when you transfer districts (i.e. email transfer essentially)? Colleague wants to be able to access her art project collection next year at her new district.
I feel this with every fiber of my teacher bones. These last days of the year are often my best days bc many of my student relationships have weathered high expectations and discipline. And now I get to truly enjoy my students even those tough ones from the beginning of the year.
Forming good relationships with disruptive pupils will inevitably involve some conflict because you can’t just pander to the negative behaviours - you have to address them. So all the folks who say ‘wow, so much conflict, so many detentions etc- bad teacher! this teacher needs to form better relationships!’ - they might be on the path to those. True, real and lasting relationships often develop out of high expectations and hard graft over time.
It's interesting to see people who have never successfully run a challenging classroom or school, get so upset by teachers and leaders who actually do so by using processes that are sensible, effective and fair. It's like watching fish argue about ballet dancing.
It’s possible to turn around a school in a relatively short amount of time. I’ve seen this recipe work, in more or less this order:
1. Ban phones
2. Concentrate admin efforts on behavior
3. Standardize routines and procedures
4. Build a culture of academics
5. Teach bell to bell
@desmos last year when we did linear regression on the STAAR graphing calc, the 🔍 immediately fit all data to the window. What happened? It’s no longer an option…
You are not always going to reach every student. It’s ok! I think teachers are often perfectionists & not reaching a student weighs heavily on us. However, if you keep trying your best then you are doing enough. #edchat#thatonekid
Be respectful to kids even if they are disrespectful back. Be kind to kids even if they are unkind back. Smile at kids even if they don’t smile back. Say good morning to kids even if they don’t say it back. Add yours 👇.

Teaching entering 9th grade students in the fall can sometimes feel like a nightmare, but it's honestly so worth it when you get to see who they become by the spring.
It's probably the main reason I've stuck with this grade level for so long.
Students been using @Desmos all year bc it’s now embedded on their STAAR test (TX). The ease with which they navigate is stunning. TI-84’s feeling lonely and cold on desks. True, some still use it for a few applications. Teachers, if you are on the fence about @Desmos -it’s time!
He’s my Valentine and I sure do love him. It’s been quite a year and I am so proud of him, especially how much he genuinely cares for students.❤️ https://t.co/HFHYfEtiu1
It’s a snow day here in Texas. Looking for preschool activities on @Desmos that I can do remotely with my niece and nephew. @AlgebraDesmos @MrCorleyMath Can you connect me with someone who knows where these might be?
@mathwith_mrcox @AlgebraDesmos @Desmos@mathwith_mrcox We did the escape room today! Students were so intent on finishing and so engaged. Can’t thank you enough!
Hey Algebra I people: I need a self-checking activity for practicing exponent rules. Anyone have something in your library that you’ve had success in using?@AlgebraDesmos @Desmos
