We’re horrified by the attack on the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne early this morning, which left 2 injured and the shul severely damaged.
Congregants witnessed 2 masked individuals setting fire to the building and police are now searching for the suspects.
This attack comes days after our partners at @ECAJewry reported that antisemitic incidents in Australia increased by more than 300% in the year following the 10/7 massacre when compared to the year prior.
We hope law enforcement can quickly arrest the perpetrators and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. We stand with the Jewish community in Australia as they continue to face an unprecedented surge in antisemitic hate.

I'm heartbroken to learn that Hersh Goldberg-Polin, z”l, an American citizen, was murdered by Hamas. His death, and the murder of the five other hostages recovered, shows how brutal Hamas is and how urgent it remains to free all the hostages now. I have met with the families, including Hersh’s brave parents Rachel and Jon. They are inspiring and they are selfless. My heart aches for them, and for each and every family impacted by the horrors of Hamas. There is no time to waste in bringing the hostages home now.
