goats have ACCENTS. rats GIGGLE when you tickle them. elephants mourn their dead. whales make SONGS and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new hit single.

monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN. sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an OCEAN they have never seen, disappear into it for like THIRTY YEARS and then somehow come back to THE SAME BEACH???

birds can see COLORS THAT WE CANNOT SEE. there are colors happening RIGHT NOW that we don’t even get to know about.

there are sea slugs that eat algae and STEAL ITS CHLOROPLASTS and then are just like great thanks I’ll be PHOTOSYNTHESIZING NOW. there are mushrooms communicating underground. there are seeds sitting in the dirt for DECADES like no actually I will wait.

squirrels plant MILLIONS OF TREES because they simply cannot remember where they put their snacks.

A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG, DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC SOUP, REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND LEAVES.

and you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a 70-foot oak tree??? nobody tells it what to do??? it just has TREE INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE IT???

Their bodies are breaking down muscle and organs to stay alive.
Heart failure, immune collapse, and sudden death are imminent risks for these already-ill elders sleeping in the October cold.

You promised them:

- Health Amendment Act (HAA) medical cards for lifelong care

- Contributory state pensions they were explicitly told they would receive

You have delivered neither.

Only 4,000 survivors remain alive.
Ireland spends billions elsewhere.
These four human beings are dying on your doorstep.

DO THE RIGHT THING – TODAY

1. Issue interim HAA medical cards to the four strikers within 24 hours.

2. Confirm contributory state pensions for all eligible survivors in writing by close of business tomorrow.

3. Meet the hunger strikers outside the Dáil this week– no more excuses.

If one of them dies next week, their blood is on your hands.
The nation is watching. History will record whether you acted or looked away.

Harris must step down. As a leader, you can't flit about making heartfelt promises to families grappling with the anguish of their sick children, only to turn your back on them.

Harvey Morrison was entitled to his surgery, and every Irish soul would have moved mountains to ensure he received it. Yet, Simon Harris, armed with far more influence than I, failed to turn those words into action.

Now, it's too late for Harvey, and Gillian and Stephen are left heartbroken, mourning a child they fought desperately to protect, only to be abandoned by the very government—and the very man, Simon Harris—who vowed to support them.

While you make their breakfast, I stare at the open tin of formula that sustained Harvey’s body for the last 8 years trying to decide what to do with it.

While you tuck them in to bed, I’m trying to decide if we should turn Harvey’s bedroom light off.

While you shop for school clothes, I try to decide what to do with the large bag of new clothes I had just bought Harvey for school.

While you brush their teeth, I think about the little box of Harvey’s teeth I have sitting on his bookshelf.

While you brush their hair, I think about how glad I am that Harvey had just got a hair cut so he looked his best in his casket.

While you sit and watch tv at night, I sit and watch Harvey’s old shows so the house is filled with the noises it was when he was still with us.

While you get them a drink, I think about how Harvey was begging us for a drink but we couldn’t give him one.

While you create memories with your children, I think about how memories are all we have left, and any future memories made will always have a void.

While you kiss them goodbye for the day, I think about when I kissed Harvey goodbye for the last time.

@BenGilroyIRL Rural roads are not fit for 80 km, add bad weather and pot holes, they become lethal. We can’t allow kids out to walk or we risk their lives. Drivers seem to think the 80 km max speed is actually the minimum they can do in all conditions. Drivers forget the roads are for everyone
