@CrowLilac@joshtpm I was just talking with Stacey about this sort of blatant racism still being so commonplace for us in the states even though we’re taught in school that it all ended when Martin Luther King, Jr. came along. It’s hard to face, but it’s true.
It's important to absorb how obscene this Michigan gambit is. Detroit is the most African-American city in the USA. Almost 83% black. And straight up the argument is: throw out that city's votes so we can win. Zero evidence of anything but Americans voting. But they don't count.
@UberFacts Outer space. Specifically scared of coming loose from a space walk and hurling through the abyss forever. Had recurring nightmares about it.
@CrowLilac@russell_bateman@nytimes You have done a great job keeping this conversation elevated. I live in “redneck” USA (where he won easily both elections). All conversations between trump followers and the rest of us have this same tone of abrasiveness with thin arguments and lots of insults.
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes I still want someone to tell me what “a lot of good things” he did. His wall will be his folly. It’s a piece of wall. The bad guys can go around. Are there less drugs and crime? Any other examples of the good things he’s done?
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes There are so many other things he has done openly that should have caused so many alarms to go off but his followers double down and defend him harder. 9.5 out of 10 times any attempt at a dialogue will end in frustration and sadness on your end and anger on theirs.
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes The things these folks love about trump are all rooted in negativity. He appeals to the ugliest parts of people. He wants us to hate and fear anything different from us. He openly mocked the disabled. Take that alone and it should call his character in to question.
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes But keep hurling insults if you want. I don’t think they’re having the desired effect though. They are just reinforcing EVERY experience I have had with a red hatter.
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes Again. You don’t know me so the assumption that I don’t accept different opinions is baseless. I accept civilized dialogue if any kind even if it challenges the core of my beliefs. We aren’t enemies from my perspective. Just 2 people who disagree.
@russell_bateman@CrowLilac@nytimes This way of thinking is just problematic for us as a country. It’s uncivilized and I won’t take part in it. I hope you find whatever you need to settle your heart and give you peace. We don’t have to be enemies because we disagree. That’s just a horribly isolating way to live. ✌🏻
@CrowLilac It’s very clear to those of us who don’t buy in to the rhetoric. What’s scary is how many of his followers take every word he says as gospel and just parrot it with all of the vitriol they can muster.
