Good afternoon, Minister @tanya_plibersek.
Wtaf happened. Why the policy choice to keep so many poor struggling people in poverty but continue with the stage 3 tax cuts for the wealthy. #auspol#RaiseTheRate
Very interesting article Indigenous knowledge informing scientific knowledge.
"Listening to Aboriginal desert voices improved our understanding of how ubiquitous, but often overlooked, desert Country works."

@JeremyPoxon@AlboMP My what if is so so different to many others. I’m budgeting paying my (state) school fees, monitoring the leftovers in the fridge (so no food waste), and tempering my teenage child’s social spending. I am a lucky one.
@JeremyPoxon@AlboMP You know who else this impacts? Parents supporting unemployed with disabilities. How are they supposed to contribute and still have leftover income to “make something of themselves “?
@JeremyPoxon@AlboMP I’m ok, and probably will be, but someone in power needs to acknowledge the vulnerability of every single person who relies on the benefits granted to us and the daily ongoing anxiety of “what if I can’t”?
@JeremyPoxon@AlboMP I have myself until the last two years been scrutinised under jobseeker, but now earning too much to qualify (I’m grateful), my son’s benefit sees him contributing a lot of his benefit for our household to continue as it is. Facing rent increases? I don’t know
"Could you live on $40 a day?"
@AlboMP: "No I couldn't"
"The fact that there's been no real increase to Newstart in such a long period of time, it's reached a point whereby the government does need to act"

The Federal Government spent more on consultants last year ($888m) than it plans to spend on social and affordable housing through the new Housing Australia Future Fund ($500m a year).
They're planning to spend more on manufacturing ($15BN NRF) and already spend more on medical research ($21.4BN MRFF) than the $10BN Housing Australia Future Fund
Keen to ensure the we change that.
We know that many of the women and girls we supportdo not have access to safe affordable accommodation.
If everyone who follows me donates the cost of one of your coffees this weekend we will have enough funds to house 20 women #donatenow 💕💕

Poxon: "We know that over 40% of people on Jobseeker have a mental or physical disability. We know that the largest cohort of people on payments now is women over 55. The dropping of the unemployment rate has not seen a decline in people needing support."
the centre-left can’t build housing, or expand the welfare state anymore. all they can do is “launch a taskforce” or establish inquiries while people starve on the street
Jobs Australia wants to reform how we punish single parents. They want the process to return to: the provider writes to C'link, then a person at Services Australia cuts payment; rather than now, where a provider clicks a button & cuts ppl off.
Uh, how about just: no punishments
How expensive are the Stage 3 tax cuts? You could raise Jobseeker from $668 to $1,925 and the Budget deficit in 2032-33 would still be lower than under Stage 3
