Isn't it kind of racist to assume that 'ethnic minorities' are bad at maths? Also inaccurate as GCSE maths students of Chinese ethnicity statistically get results well above the national average.
🚨NEW: It's been revealed the Treasury ditched a maths test on its graduate scheme as it had an 'adverse impact' on candidates from ethnic minorities
Numerical reasoning was removed from the graduate recruitment scheme soon after the death of George Floyd

@daniellismore@RoyalFamily@LemkinInstitute You do realise that this kind of hyperbole is one of the many reasons why most normal people have lost patience with the whole 'trans' schtick?
Today you will read many sympathetic media stories about B.P.J., the male athlete who challenged WV’s law and lost at SCOTUS.
I’m guessing none will mention that B.P.J. defeated 470+ girls 1,400+ times (including a state title) and sexually harassed our client Adaleia (pictured) in the girls’ locker room. Sadly, Adaleia stopped playing the school sports she loved due to B.P.J.’s ongoing presence in girls’ sports and spaces.
But we’ll probably be lucky if those girls get even a passing mention—let alone a front-page photo.
This has been the pattern on this issue from far too many institutions of power. Boys’ feelings are the focus. Girls’ safety, fairness, and opportunity take a back seat.
I’m so thankful today that the Supreme Court reversed that pattern, acknowledged the reality of biological sex, and remembered the girls.
Labour could deport him, but they are CHOOSING not to change the law.
Victims deserve justice. The public deserve protection. Monsters like this must never be allowed back onto our streets.
Conservatives are bringing an amendment to close this loophole and deport him for good.
@SarahCoombesWB I expect women in West Bromwich also want to live their lives in peace and dignity. A key component of this is not being expected to put up with men invading their single sex, female only spaces and services.
A Moroccan man who arrives in Britain via small boat and claims asylum will be given taxpayer funded accommodation, taxpayer funded food, and taxpayer funded spending money. Under this plan, he will be asked to repay a very small fraction of that taxpayer funded largesse, capped at £10k, if he finds work.
A British student who works hard and wins a place at a top-tier university will leave with £47,900 in debt, appreciating at a 6.2% interest rate. Once he starts work, he will pay this loan plus taxes to fund the welfare given to the Moroccan asylum seeker.
This is a grossly unfair system.
It seems I’ve stumbled across the most divisive issue of all time. Those who loathe the use of passed or passing in reference to death & those who prefer it. I’m in the loathe camp, I think it attempts to sweep away the profound significance of death, but it’s quite the debate
@speakoutsister Haven't you heard of stocks and shares ISAs? A modest return would be 6%, often it would be much higher. After 10 years you'd have a lot more than 25k.
This couple might be an extreme example but I do think budgeting should be normalised again. So many people have a 'buy now, worry later' mindset. Taking a packed lunch to work should not be seen as scrimping, it should be the norm. It's probably healthier too.
@PintsO_Guinness@BBCNews You might not save a million, but you could easily be looking in the region of 30-50k after twenty years if you invested £5 a day instead of buying lunch.
@Telegraph Surely 10000 hardly scratches the surface for board and keep at a hotel (or anywhere) for months on end, not to mention all the other freebies they're given. Can we stop calling them asylum seekers? They're economic migrants.
History has shown again and again that Corbyn's vision has led to mass poverty, economic stagnation, shortages of food/energy and increasingly dictatorial leadership. It's privilege for a tiny, political elite while the vast majority live in misery with no hope or opportunity.
Devolution is welcome, but it is not enough to fix the crises facing us all.
We will never bring about real change without a mass redistribution of wealth, ownership & power.
Public ownership. Wealth taxes. Rent controls. That must be the basis for a real alternative. [1/3]
Margo Leadbetter was snobbish, humourless and entitled, & Penelope Keith managed to make her into one of the most adored (and oddly vulnerable) characters ever seen on a sitcom. She delivered every line as if it were a jewelled crown on a velvet cushion. An utter genius.
