If I were one of the @2o1patrons, my confession would be that I usually mint first and read about the project later. But today I saw this interesting upcoming mint in the @FNFweb3 Discord and decided to do some research first.
2o1 Patrons is an invitation-only circle of 201 collectors and artists, and it's inspired by @gully_art. This French contemporary artist reimagines the great masters, Van Gogh, Basquiat, Warhol, and Picasso, through the eyes of a child. His paintings have been shown in Paris, London and New York, and one of his works sold for nearly $300,000.
The concept is a bit different from what we are used to. You mint a capsule, then you confess a real story into it, and that story shapes the final one-of-one artwork revealed at the end. The collector becomes part of the piece, not just the owner of it. And with only 201 spots, every story matters.
I am hoping one of those spots ends up being mine. Either way, this one stays on my watchlist!
Today I am minting GLiFS by @EfdotStudio, and I have been looking forward to this one.
Not many know that Efdot's grandmother was a stained glass and watercolour artist who kept a workshop in her basement, and he grew up drawing on her leftover paper. He has said that is where it all started for him, and you can feel that lineage in the work.
GLiFS is 300 animated symbols that 3,000 collectors arrange into their own compositions. The shapes are left open on purpose, so your eye finishes them. These marks are made to be received and played with.
I was lucky to get into the Efdot Collectors phase, so I can secure a piece early. I have an allocation in a later phase too, but I hear those FCFS rounds will be competitive, so I am glad to lock one in first.
Good luck to everyone minting today, especially the art collectors!
