#LiamPayne rose to global fame as a founding member of the massively popular boy band One Direction, after appearing on The X Factor in 2010! The band sold over 70 million records, and became one of the best-selling boy bands of All Time and the first group to have its first four albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Liam co-wrote dozens of the group’s smash hits, then launched his own very successful solo career, becoming a chart-topping, record-breaking, history-making Solo Artist in his own right! He has sold over 18 million singles, 2.4M Albums and drew over 3.9 Billion career streams after One Direction's hiatus!

In May 2017, Liam released "Strip That Down" via Republic Records, the lead single from his much awaited debut album! "Strip That Down" debuted at #2 in Australia & Ireland, #3 in the UK & Scotland, #4 in Belgium & New Zealand, #6 in Malaysia and #7 in Finland & Greece. It reached #10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Payne's first top ten as a solo artist and Quavo's 4th. Liam became the 3rd member of One Direction to achieve a solo top 10 single on the Hot 100, following Zayn and Harry Styles. One Direction joined The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and New Edition as the only groups at the time with at least 3 members with solo Hot 100 songs reaching the top 10! "Strip That Down" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart and Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, with Liam making history, becoming the 1st Solo Artist from an all-male vocal group to top the latter! The song received multi-platinum certifications in both the US and UK! In 2018, Liam released "For You", a collaboration with Rita Ora which became a global smash hit, receiving gold and platinum certifications in multiple countries!

Liam's debut album, LP1, was released in December 2019 and was a Top 20 hit in the UK reaching #17. Liam released the single "Teardrops" in March 2024. The single was co-written with NSYNC member JC Chasez and reached #3 on the Official Singles Downloads Chart and #5 on the Official Singles Sales Chart!

Liam became the first global brand ambassador for German brand Hugo Boss in May 2019. The first Hugo x Liam Payne capsule collection was revealed during Berlin Fashion Week in July 2020. Their 2nd capsule collection launched in May 2020. In January 2020, Liam starred in the Hugo Boss fragrance campaign for 'Hugo Now'.

Liam was also a very active Philanthropist and supported Comic Relief with One Direction and a new initiative titled Action 1D "to help better the future". He was an avid supporter of UNICEF and teamed up with tennis star Andy Murray, Jack Whitehall and Clare Balding to support UNICEF UK's Children in Danger Summer Disease Appeal. Liam also teamed up with Eddie Jordan in support of UK based charity CLIC Sargent. Liam was also an ambassador of Trekstock. His original campaign with Trekstock in 2013 raised $784,198. In 2015, he raised an additional $211,237. Liam was also named an ambassador of Sustainable Development Goals also known as the Global Goals campaign. He gave a much needed push to a £6 million youth project, "The Youth Zone", in his hometown of Wolverhampton. Payne co-hosted a charity ball in honour of Believe in Magic, an organisation that supported terminally ill children, with Louis Tomlinson. Collectively Louis and Liam donated over £5 million at the event. In 2018, Payne and Tomlinson filmed an episode of Gogglebox in support for Stand Up to Cancer! Liam was also an advocate for food security, and in 2020 became a donor to the Trussell Trust and its network of UK food banks, funding over 360,000 meals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Liam also donated £80,000 and volunteered to help out in person at Euston Food Bank and Food for All in Holborn, a fact that was not revealed until after his death as he had requested it to remain private. In May 2020, Liam supported the Black Lives Matter movement, attending the London Black Lives Matter protests, and encouraged fans to educate themselves and donate. In 2022, Liam participated in Soccer Aid 2022, as captain of the English team, returning in the 2023 edition! Liam also donated thousands of pounds to various GoFundMe pages a month before his death, making sure people got the operations they needed!

Liam helped define a generation of pop as a member of One Direction, one of the best-selling boy bands ever, then left a solo catalog led by hits like “Strip That Down.” His voice, songwriting, and the devotion of Directioners remain his biggest mark on the world!

The difference is honestly fucking glaring, and what’s even more ridiculous is how people seem to praise Kate for doing the bare minimum publicly while barely giving Liam’s own sisters the same support.

Kate gets on camera on Liam’s birthday saying she’ll “never stop talking about him,” that he was “a huge part of my life,” that he made her “grow into the person that I am today,” and then talks about his favourite Biscoffs, the cupcakes she used to make, his last birthday, bowling and cake. And suddenly everyone is crying in the comments about how beautiful and genuine it is.

Meanwhile, Liam’s actual sisters are sharing deeply personal memories of their brother... his music, cake, pizza, bowling because that’s what they did for his last birthday, the stupid little jokes, his footsteps, his mannerisms, memories that actually came from growing up with him. They don’t need to constantly post pictures of Liam, they don’t need to make him the centre of their social media, and they certainly don’t need to use his name to get attention.

In fact, neither of his sisters are constantly putting pictures of him online, and their posts aren’t being turned into endless tabloid articles either. Kate’s are. And let’s talk about the engagement because apparently we’re supposed to pretend that doesn’t matter. Kate’s post centred around Liam gets 533K likes, while her content without him can drop to around 10K–100K depending on the post.

So who exactly is bringing that audience? Liam. His name, his face, his fans, his legacy. Put Liam in the content and suddenly hundreds of thousands of people are watching, liking and sharing. Take Liam out and suddenly that audience shrinks considerably. Yet people still want to act like those numbers are proof of Kate’s own influence. Please. If you need Liam to pull the audience, the audience is there for Liam — not you.

And that’s what makes the comparison with his sisters so fucking uncomfortable. They don’t need to turn Liam into a content strategy. They don’t need to make a public performance out of how much they loved him. They simply miss their brother. They remember him through the little things that don’t necessarily go viral: his music playing, cake, pizza, bowling, childhood memories, inside jokes, the tiny details that mean everything to them.

Kate can say “he made me the person I am today,” but his sisters are showing us who Liam actually was. And somehow people seem far more eager to applaud Kate for talking about Liam than to support the two women who actually lost their brother.

That is fucking backwards. Liam’s birthday was not a marketing opportunity, an engagement strategy or a way to stay relevant. And Liam’s memory should never have to be the thing carrying someone else’s content.

Because the numbers already tell you exactly who people are showing up for: Liam.

For Liam…

With Liam’s birthday tomorrow, my heart still hurts. It hurts for his parents, his sisters, his son, his friends and every person who loved him, because beyond all of the noise, the headlines, the theories and the endless unanswered questions, there is one unbearable truth that sits above everything else: Liam should be here tomorrow.

I have spent the last few days glued to my computer, much like so many of you, trying to piece together a puzzle that still feels painfully incomplete, except I cannot look at this solely through the eyes of somebody observing the entertainment industry from the outside. I entered that world at sixteen years old, had an entire career before The X Factor, and have spent years in rooms with people some would fear and others would only ever dream of meeting. I have seen how power works when the doors close, I have experienced its darkest consequences first-hand, and after following the evidence, the chronology, the relationships, Liam’s own words and what I personally knew of him, there is a linear conclusion that is screaming at me.

I have now written it down.

What began as questions has become a substantial thesis setting out what I personally and professionally believe happened, and before I publish a single word of it I am awaiting independent legal counsel’s comments, because I want what I put into the world to be watertight. I do not believe in conspiracy theories and I have no interest in manufacturing one; my thinking is grounded in evidence, first-hand experience, documented fact, Liam’s own words and the questions that arise when those things are finally placed alongside one another.

There are also things I want answered properly. Liam was beginning to speak openly about his experience and his truth, including through his conversations with Steven Bartlett and Logan Paul, and I want to know what exists beyond the versions the public ultimately heard. There are fuller or unedited recordings that exist, I believe they should be preserved, examined and, wherever legally possible, made available, because Liam is no longer here to tell us what may have been left unsaid.

And perhaps the reason I am saying any of this tonight is much simpler than the thesis itself.

In 2010, Liam and I were two very young people sitting on the bottom bunk of his bunk bed in the X Factor house, confined inside this inexplainable world neither of us could properly comprehend, telling one another things about what we had each experienced getting there and relying on each other because, in that moment, very few other people could truly understand.

We made each other a promise that night.

Whatever happened, we would always have each other’s backs.

I meant it.

So I will keep asking the uncomfortable questions, I will keep following the evidence wherever it leads, and I will keep pushing for proper scrutiny where the evidence warrants it, because Liam should have had the opportunity to finish telling his own truth.

Tomorrow should be his birthday.

He should be here.

And until every legitimate question that can be answered has been answered, I am not walking away.

I promised him I would have his back.

I do not break my promises.
