Hello, internet! I know I’ve been inactive here for a while, but this is the only public platform I have, so I’m taking the opportunity to post a komiks series on memory, myth-making, and historical distortion. The pages below are the first of the triptych. 🧵
In reality, the Marcos years were a dark time for the country. Disinformation today is challenging Philippine memory, and is insisting this was the Philippines’ Golden Age. It’s our responsibility to combat this, whether through digital or word of mouth. #NeverForget#NeverAgain

Today’s card. The need to see oneself as always “good” means all else goes underground. Does refusing to acknowledge something make it go away? More likely these things find life elsewhere—get assigned to others or express in twisted ways. Rejecting reality is always precarious.
My dad passed away a month ago. He never fully understood what I was doing in grad school.
I found this notebook a few days after he passed. He always cared and he was always trying to understand.
Today's card. Paulo Freire wrote that with any limit there's someone who's being curbed by it and there is someone who's being served. On a personal level, this is also true. It can be useful to ask which part of me is being served by a self-imposed limitation, & which hindered?
Cleaning is energy work. Exercising is energy work. 'Getting ready' is energy work. Anything we do to shift energy and create a change, however mundane, is energy work. The more intention we bring to it, the more effective it'll be.
Today’s card. If you’re tasked w bringing change to a stuck situation—ex. setting a boundary where there were none—you can expect to be told you are wrong & you can expect pushback. Whoever benefits from the way things are isn’t going to give up the status quo smiling. Hold firm.
Today's card. Dragons in old European tales often hoard treasures they have no real use for; they know others find these things valuable but themselves have no real use for them. There's a dragon in us, too, that clings to things we don't even want bc someone else called it gold.
Today's card. Facts & data are one way of engaging reality but, as we all know, there are times when intellectual knowing is not enough to change behavior. We have to untie the felt experience, the passion for the things we want to see change, rediscover what we love & yearn for.
