Since reading @FunkyPedagogy’s (amazing!) Metacognition Handbook I’ve been considering how I can teach more metacognitively. I’ve made this flowchart in the hope it will help students to think & learn more independently - excited to trial it in September and see its impact!
Hi everyone!
I wanted to give an update on The Quotation Bank App, which we are now ready to make some serious noise about!
We soft-launched in the App Store and Google Play last Wednesday and it has had great feedback, but we had a little difficulty finalising the discount function in the Android version that would allow students and teachers to receive discount codes and 30% off their subscription.
I’ve never wanted to send things to teachers until they were perfect. Teachers have too much to deal with already, and don’t need me wasting their time, but it is now all fully up to speed!
As we resolved the discount issue in Android, it also allowed us to reflect and make a decision. We’re dealing with children and teachers here, and not everything is about money, so:
✅ all students and teachers will now automatically get their first month as a completely free trial
✅ they can trial the app, engage with it, and see if it is for them without having to spend any money upfront
✅ After that, all teachers and students will automatically get 30% off the usual £3.99 a month, so it will only cost them £2.79 a month for the rest of this academic year.
There’s no need for codes, discount vouchers etc - that is all hard wired into the app and will happen automatically.
🔔 Interested in access for your pupils? 🔔
If you would be interested in The Quotation Bank App for your pupils, we also have a letter schools can send to parents so pupils can access their free trial - some schools have already asked for it and will be sending it out, and it might save you some time if you were interested, so let me know and I will send it over!
📲 If you would like a free trial yourself, all the instructions are below, and I’d love to know what you think - feedback is always welcome!
Thanks to everyone for your support and kind words; I hope the app supports your pupils’ well!
Simon
How to get started:
1. Download the app - free to download!
Search Quotation Bank: Exam Revision on the App Store (for iPhone/iPad) or Google Play (for Android), or use the links here:
App Store - https://t.co/RF4t9WqUUj
Google Play - https://t.co/9XDR8yer8X
2. Create a free account!
Open the app and register with your email address and create a password. You’ll be sent a confirmation email, and in that email click Confirm Account.
Please note, the confirmation email may take up to 5 minutes to arrive in your inbox, and please check junk folders!
3. Start your free trial!
Go back to the app and click Subscribe, then Purchase, where it will confirm your one-month free trial followed by 30% off the usual £3.99 RRP, so only £2.79 a month.
All new users receive one month completely free, so students can explore the app and see how much it supports their studies.
4. Continue at a reduced rate!
After the free month, the subscription is just £2.79 a month (30% off the regular £3.99) for the rest of this academic year. You can cancel at any time.
