A few snaps from the rest of our Phonics Bootcamp last week. The children are feeling very confident in their sounds and have had so much fun playing the different games @simonsideschool
Day 2 of Year 1’s Phonics Bootcamp… We sorted real and alien words into the trash or treasure box then went outside for a fun phoneme hunt on the yard! I must say, the children are REALLY impressing me with their reading skills this week📚 @simonsideschool
Day 1 of this week’s Phonics Bootcamp is well under way in Year 1. The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading, sorting and then ‘feeding’ the words to our phoneme monsters! @simonsideschool
Year 1 have had a fabulous time today on our trip to @sunderlanduni to see our friend’s winning design! Of course we had to squeeze in a little play on the park on the way back to school… @simonsideschool
This week Y1 were employed for an hour at Tony’s Pizzeria! They were excellent workers, taking orders and making up each customer’s pizza accordingly. Oh, and we forgot we were even learning about half’s and quarters along the way it was that much fun🍕@simonsideschool #fractions
What a wonderful time we had hosting Year 1’s Reading Cafe for parents this afternoon. It was so lovely to see parents sharing stories with their children. @simonsideschool
A great big WELL DONE to this week’s Star and Best Seat’s winners 🌟 What a fantastic effort from both children! As always, we couldn’t be more proud of you. @simonsideschool
After spending this week learning all about discrimination and equality, today Year 3 have designed their very own Utopia! We had lots of interesting conversations about how we could promote equality in our perfect worlds 🌎 @simonsideschool
A huge well done to this week’s Star Pupil and Best Seats winner 🏅 An impressive week for both boys. We’ve had outstanding creative writing, amazing decimal and fraction work all alongside impeccable behaviour. Keep it up boys, we are so proud of you! @simonsideschool
Well done to our Star Pupil and Best Seats in the House winner for this week! Of course we had to build them a Greek God worthy throne to sit on 🇬🇷 @simonsideschool
Making the most of the wonderful weather and our fantastic forest school area! We went on a hunt to find out which skeleton type was the most common on our school grounds. Due to the amount of bugs we found, it turned out that exoskeletons were the most common. @simonsideschool
Who said fractions were boring?! This was by far our favourite maths lesson of the week - Smartie Fractions! Since we worked so hard, we were allowed to eat some afterwards 😋 @simonsideschool
As our new topic question is ‘Does a struggle make us stronger?’, we took part in lots of team activities such as this ‘No Hands Cup Stacking Challenge’! Using only string and elastic bands, our communication and problem solving skills were put to the test! @simonsideschool
We held our very own Year 3 Pentathlon after looking at the Ancient Greeks and the origins of the Olympics. We have some future sportsmen and women among us! Who doesn’t love a good competition? 🏅 @simonsideschool
What a week we’ve had in Year 3T this week! We have smiled and laughed from start to finish. Pictures to follow of what we have been getting up to... 👀 @simonsideschool
