a little over 2 years ago, i had gotten into an accident that greatly injured my eyesight and my brain. since i was little, i had played soccer at a national level. it was my life, it took up most of my childhood, my weekends, my time & energy, but i loved it. it was my life. after the injury i was no longer able to participate in sports, so my life was taken away from me in a moment, it felt like i didnt get much of a goodbye. i often act like it doesnt affect me, but i miss it so much. miss being proud of myself for something, miss seeing those achievements produce from my hard work. i no longer was able to have that part of me. i had joined esports around this time, as it was an actual therapy for my eyesight (reaction time, tracking, etc.) and through this, i had met amazing friends, a community, and a new challenge for myself. today my team and i played in the NACE grand finals, i dont think my team understood what winning that felt like to me. even if its just a silly collegiate league, i had helped my team accomplish this achievement. and suddenly i felt like maybe i was in the right place, i had something to show for my efforts. so just thank you to my friends, my team, my family, my coaches, and anyone else whos helped me along this way <3 i felt like my life and love was ripped out of my hands suddenly, but now i finally have something to show that maybe i didnt fall into the wrong place? for the first time in years, i had finally felt GENUINELY proud of myself. so thank guys :)
