Last night God brought us over 200 young men with their hopes, dreams passions and anxieties.

200 young men with their eyes locked in- gave me their focus and attention and in each one of them I saw you- your joy, your humility, your tenacity and fire.

I shared with them the things we used to talk about, the truth about who they were, the love God has for them, the light that’s inside them so they could shine for others the way you did for us.

I didn’t want them to leave without knowing the power of an “I love you” with someone you care about bc you never know when it’s your last and that no matter what they’re going through that God has a plan and purpose for their life! That no matter how lonely they may feel or how hard life is in the moment that God is there to comfort to guide and to strengthen them.

Today was and still is your day. The morning of May 1st will ever feel the same and tbh no morning does. The excitement, the joy and the love we felt as your mom would blast the birthday music and make your favorite meals. You are worthy to be celebrated and we will continue to celebrate you!! Our lives were better bc of you! It was a privilege to be your dad and a part of your life, to watch you grow from that energetic young boy into the amazing young man you are- and now you present with our Father in Heaven!

While we may not get to party with you like we once did, we hold on to the promise that we will someday experience the party in heaven you are having right now! You are loved and you are free bc who the Son sets free is free indeed.
