Just getting home and settled from having the fortunate opportunity of spending a week at IAS for #pcmi2024. Without question one of the best and most powerful professional developments I have ever attended!
Thank you to @pegcagle, @sig225 & everyone not tagged for everything!
A huge shout-out to @MrCorleyMath and @bobloch for everything they brought to the @Desmos Summer Slam today! Thank you to @amtnj for setting this up as well!
@lisa_paddy I listed the duration and number of students per class. I also had them do a logic puzzle that was hands-on to help keep them away from their phones 🤨.
@lisa_paddy I did a similar experiment two weeks ago. Except the students were not allowed to react or reply to any notifications. This just shows how many unsolicited distractions they have in a shorter window of approximately 20-25 min.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated to help spark mathematical thinking with the students in our high school. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Looking to cultivate a bunch of questions for my math club, inspired by @rawrdimus for a Festivus countdown, Advent-style calendar. Any resource suggestions are appreciated! #mtbos#iteachmath 1/3
Since Festivus is about the airing of grievances, I was thinking of posing problems that are “simple” but prove to be frustrating. Maybe even is the problem true/false Ex: 1/x + 3/y = 4/(x+y) 2/3
I have a student that has shredded each and every trig identity resource I have. Does anyone know where I can find other challenging identity problems? #MTBoS#iteachmath
A friend of mine asked if I had ever heard of a Math Agreement within a district K-12. Pretty much a grade by grade breakdown of what should be covered each year, when calculators are introduced, homework policies for grades, etc…has anyone worked with this? #mtbos#iteachmath
@Desmos has done it again!! If I don't know what to make, I can just use the new R_{ecipe} function at https://t.co/CPfJIxTKcm to give me recipe ideas!
All you have to do is type in R_ecipe and click the action button to get a randomized recipe. Thanks Team Desmos!
