Sometimes people say that disasters are equalizers, which couldn’t be further from the truth. They are magnifiers of inequality and drivers of gentrification. Wealthier people are able to rebuild (though yes often at great personal cost) or they sell to other wealthy people. 🧵

@cheesemonkeysf@averypickford Not sure I would use the word “corruption” but rather “fraud”- It is fraudulent to keep the “T” in the acronym & keep encouraging teachers to spend their $ on an enterprise that does not center them in their (hypothetically) own professional organization
@kathyhen_ @desmosclassroom @joelbezaire I plan on sitting on a stool chatting about what is valued in our classroom with a display of “welcome” in English, Spanish, Farsi, Russian, Armenian & Arabic on my smart board as the only use of technology... and it will be 109 degrees if the weather forecasts are correct 😱
