Mark Warner, who said he’d move “heaven and earth” for data centers, talks like the bipartisan grown-up, then voted no on the Ratepayer Protection Act, the same bill that cleared the House 417-3 to keep data center power costs off household bills. Virginia families are already paying for the data center boom he likes to complain about, and when a real vote arrived, he sided with the party line instead of Virginians.
🚨Abigail Spanberger unveiled her energy plan today… spoiler alert: it’s TERRIBLE. Here’s the rundown:
➡️The plan acknowledges that removing Virginia from RGGI, repealing VCEA, & ending the mandates would save ratepayers $127 BILLION
➡️The plan invents a totally bogus “social cost of carbon” statistic to make it look less expensive than it really is.
➡️Up to 277,000 acres of farms and forests will be converted to big, ugly solar arrays.
➡️The plan admits that Virginia must import 30 PERCENT of its energy from other states if it is implemented, adding even more costs for ratepayers.
➡️Under this plan, the projected average residential electricity bill will be $274/month by 2039.
BOTTOM LINE: Spanberger & Democrats’ plan will result in YOUR FAMILY paying more, not less.
This is not an “affordability” plan. It’s Virginia’s very own version of the Green New Scam that will make electricity - and everything else - more expensive.
Power selects for a specific personality type, and it is not yours.
F.A. Hayek spelled this out in 1944. In a centrally planned system, the people who rise are not the most competent or the most honest. They are the most willing to exercise force against strangers, the most comfortable with contradiction, and the most skilled at coalition-building through favors rather than merit. Government filters for the bad ones from the start.
The mechanism is straightforward. Political power means controlling resources you did not earn. Capturing that control requires outcompeting rivals who have no ethical constraints. A principled candidate refuses to promise contradictory things to different voter blocs. An unprincipled one does it without blinking. The unprincipled one wins. Repeat this selection pressure across hundreds of electoral cycles and you get the U.S. Congress in 2026: a body where the average member has held office for over a decade, raised millions from interested parties, and delivered almost nothing measurable to the people who voted for them.
Bureaucracy compounds the problem. Once entrenched, state agencies attract people who want authority without accountability. You cannot fire most of them. The FDA, the TSA, the Federal Reserve all function this way, staffed by individuals whose career advancement depends on expanding the agency's reach, never on serving you efficiently.
@RWMaloneMD read your Substack on AI. Excellent. Bu isn’t it rather too generous to say Coxon was at Anthropocene for four months and was linked to AI doomerist organizations.
@BillAckman Listen to Milei’s speech at the UN. The same leftist that propose de-industrialization and state control want to eliminate all “oppressors”.

Milei demolishes AI Doomerism.
“The state is not an abstract creature.
It is made up of people, officials, and bureaucrats.
Granting it control over innovation means granting some people, in the best and most naive of cases, the power to limit what everyone else can create.
History gives us reason to scrutinize such power carefully.
For centuries, fear over tomorrow has been used as an argument for restricting freedoms today, always with the same promise: give us a part of your freedom and we will protect you from this new threat.
We will apply a different principle.
In the face of uncertainty, we propose determination.
In the face of fear, courage.
In the face of decline, ambition.
And in the face of resignation, we propose optimism.
That is why I tell you that when it comes to artificial intelligence, Argentina will stand at the forefront of freedom.”

Last week, Democrats killed the Clarity Act. Once again, Mark Warner voted in lockstep with Democrats more interested in “sticking it to Trump” than the welfare of the American people.
The Clarity Act would keep our nation at the forefront of financial technology by providing clear rules for the private sector. Without this statutory clarity, Americans will be deprived of cheaper, better ways to transfer and invest their hard-earned money.
As your senator, I will give Americans the freedom to control their money and investments without the restrictions and fees imposed by outdated financial institutions that have gotten rich off the backs of the American worker.
@stavernise do you know whom many of us trust least? NYT. And you. Take this misleader: “People are dying of measles, public health officials say, though the health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., continues to cast doubts on that fact.” Somewhere in the world more than one person has died from measles, so the first phrase is true. In fact, according to WHO, between 33,000 and 199,000 died worldwide in 2024, BEFORETrump took office. RFK doesn’t deny that. He simply says the MMR vaccine is safe and effective but it should be a parental choice, particularly on whether to get so many at once. Therefore, you lied. You either knew it or you were sloppy.
Prove me wrong.
She deserves condemnation for creating her daughter’s’ story. She’s surrendered her daughter to her own delusions and self-absorption. She turned her little girl into a signal of her own virtue. And for nine years, she paid no attention to her daughter’s’ lack of progress. Her behavior is disgusting.
It’s not about inequity. It’s about self-absorption, self delusion and virtue signaling. She was so convinced in her own virtue that she threw away her daughter’s‘ chances. For nine years, she paid no attention to what was happening to her own daughter because she was posing in the mirror.
🚨IT'S HAPPENING $$: Spanberger's Carbon Tax Sets New Record, Could Add $1 Billion to Virginia Electricity Costs in One Year
"The impact of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative carbon tax on your electric bill – and everything you buy which depends on electricity – will be double what the General Assembly’s Democrats claimed it would be just a few months ago. The hit on your wallet is just getting started."
"Virginia’s first sale of Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) carbon allowances since 2023 will collect $259 million from electricity producers and allowance market speculators, almost one third as much money as the prior twelve such auctions combined."
"It is also double the official fiscal impact statement from the 2026 Assembly session. Virginia’s electricity producers may pay up to $1 billion in carbon tax this fiscal year and then set about finding ways to pass the cost to customers."
"The new clearing price of $37.65 per ton of carbon emissions was announced by the RGGI organization on Friday morning. That is 8 percent higher than the price set in June ($35 per ton) and 69 percent higher than the September 2025 clearing price of $22.25 per allowance. This was the first RGGI quarterly auction to exceed $1 billion in revenue across all the participating states." ...
