The game has absolutely gone.

Freeze-framing challenges and replaying them from 8 different angles at half-speed turns every 50/50 into a crime scene.

Football is a contact sport. Not an audition for traffic wardens with whistles. The physicality that made this game great is being refereed out of existence by officials who know the rulebook better than they know the rhythm of a match.

Anthony Taylor didn’t manage this game, he strangled it. The tone was lost the moment he brandished a booking inside five minutes. From that point on, everything became theatre, not football.

If this is ‘modern officiating’ the soul of football has already left the stadium.
