You may have heard of someone who travelled from the abroad to Nigeria and started coughing and complaining of chest pain. But instead of going to have it checked at a hospital, they say let me just attend the wedding I can for first.

Then you hear they collapsed and died before or after the party they came to enjoy. A lot of people will be quick to say it was village people that did it. But if you look deep, you can see the handiwork of a disease entity called Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the vessels of the lung).

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a sudden blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs, typically caused by a blood clot that has traveled from another part of the body, often from the legs (a condition known as deep vein thrombosis, or DVT).

This life-threatening condition can significantly impact respiratory and circulatory function, and immediate medical attention is crucial. PE usually begins with a blood clot in a deep vein, often in the legs.

As the clot breaks off, it travels through the bloodstream to the lungs, where it lodges in a pulmonary artery, obstructing blood flow. This blockage impedes oxygen transfer from the lungs to the bloodstream, depriving vital organs of oxygen.

Depending on the size and number of clots, the condition can be mild, severe, or even fatal. It can take days before it finally kills its victims.
