Very stoked about my next adventure. I’ve joined Spellbook, but not as CTO.

I’m joining as an Executive IC. It probably means different things to different people. It means I'm here to build and be hands on in every part of the company.

I've invested and been advising and getting to know @scottastevenson and the team for more than a year. At some point it became obvious the most useful thing I could do was stop talking about ideas and go work with the team.

With AI making code cheap to copy, what's going to be hard to copy is the shape of a company. How a team learns, decides, and ships. That's what I want to work on. It's what I've spent the last three decades learning to do.

Why Spellbook? The world has entered into one of the largest investment cycles in decades. Trillions of dollars are being deployed into energy, AI, manufacturing, transportation and the modernization of critical global systems. Despite this, progress still moves at the speed of contracts. Big learning today as I play with cloud coding agents:

The more apps I connect my cloud agents to, the smaller prompt I need.

I was an MCP sceptic but connecting apps to one coding agent then kicking it off with its own computer is incredible.

Before I had to give it a ton of rules and babysit it.

Now I point it at a Slack thread and say: "Go". It does parallel Datadog, LaunchDarkly, Raindrop, and Slack queries then produces a small fix.

If you're finding yourself typing huge tickets with tons of requirements in a giant PRD to fix small issues, your coding agent might be missing context from other apps.

Please retweet so that we can get back to reality and permanently kill CARR as a valuation anchor. Delusion is not good for anyone.

@raunakdoesdev @DamiDina @DevinAI I think it’s just… claude? I’ve been using Cursor automations and was also pleasantly surprised. We have a few prompts hunting for slow CI and common anti patterns the linter doesn’t catch. Its hit rate is incredible. Models getting better was the unlock.

kinda nuts the Vercel AI SDK has no story for durable jobs outside of their proprietary workflows product. I'm making agents that run for 30 mins but if the worker dies it's just over and there's no way to reconcile
