Hot take, there’s a lot of YouTube filmmakers that are leagues better storytellers than some commercial directors.
Hell, most are way better than I am at crafting a story with a hook, tension, payoff.
Mad respect. Wish more people took these guys seriously.
I'm long-term bullish on newsletters.
- Owned audience is more important than ever before (as social algos switch to interest graph)
- Podcast is just as crowded as email & audience growth is way harder
- The unit economics are beautiful at scale (80%+ margins)
- There are tons of new newsletters, but most of them are 💩 (care more about short-term monetization vs. long-term reader loyalty)
