Not every win becomes part of school history.

This one did.

The West Wilkes 4x400m record stood for 33 years.

On May 9th, 2026, @aidenzulpo, @mitchellrange08, @nolan33668280, and Landon Wilson ran 3:30.41, won the NCHSAA 3A West Regional Championship, and broke a record set in 1993 by Jon Paul Sloop, Jody Miller, Jason Taylor, and Thomas Williams.

That 1993 group held the standard for more than three decades. These four raised it.

They head to the NCHSAA 3A State Championships on Thursday, May 14, 2026, as the No. 4 seed.

West Wilkes has some fast cats!

Congratulations to Andrew Herman for being selected as the 2026 MVAC 2A/3A/4A Field Event Athlete of the Year.

At the MVAC Conference Championship, Sophomore @andrewherm23 won the long jump with a school record mark of 21’6”, breaking a West Wilkes record that had stood for 20 years.

He also qualified for the NCHSAA 3A West Regional Championships in Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump.
