But there is no cost cutting going on. Shimano or SRAM or KMC do make quality chains, it sounds like this was just bad timing or bad luck!

@TimmyDenz @TrekBikes @Trustpilot Sorry to hear that. I've personally broken a chain multiple times, it can happen to high end chains too. If you were in a hard gear and went to start pedaling, this can put a lot of load on the chain. Or if your chain wasn't cleaned or lubricated often, that wouldn't help either.

@TimmyDenz @TrekBikes @Trustpilot Keep in mind that chains are not made by Trek, they are made by a specific manufacturer. Warranty claims are submitted to those manufacturers, not to Trek, in most cases so that manufacturer can properly evaluate it based on their expertise. 2/2

@TimmyDenz @TrekBikes @Trustpilot Hey Tim, chains can break and are often just replaced by the rider when it happens as unfortunate as it is. Chains take a lot of stress, but they should last more than 9 months when properly taken care of and without being over-stressed. 1/2
