Let Them Eat Strawberries: A Lesson on Capitalism
This video from @ItsNathanEmery was likely served into my algo as rage bait, but it prompted a valuable lesson on capitalism for people who are frustrated with "the system" and seeking a solution.
Capitalism is always the closest thing to blame and when it's done over light piano music from a friendly-toned voice and likely a well-meaning family man. You could almost think he's right.
The real culprit is bloated, inefficient bureaucracy, not capitalism. Certainly capitalism is not without flaw, but it is the single most effective system for improving quality of life for the most people, driving innovation and allocating resources efficiently.
The competition and incentive structure is why the world is a prosperous as it is.
This simplistic breakdown explains capitalism through strawberries and why the education system has failed so many people.
This video could be hours long, but for brevity hopefully this gives a generalized overview that drives less people to communism and more people to embrace how great capitalism actually is.
I’m disappointed that trump admin placed the 25% tariffs.
I’m disappointed that this is our governments response.
I love Canada and want it to thrive. I built Canada’s biggest tech company here because I know it’s a special place.
Canada thrives when it works with America together. Win by helping America win. Trump believes that Canada has not held its side of the bargain, and he set terms to prove that we still work together: get the borders under control and crack down on fentanyl dens.
These are things that every Canadian wants its government to do, too. These are not crazy demands, even if they came from an unpopular source.
These tariffs are going to be devastating to so many people’s lives and small businesses.
Action has to be judged based on what it leads to, not how good it sounds or feels. Leadership is about doing what’s right, not what is popular. And hitting back will not lead to anything good. America will shrug it off. Canada will decline.
It’s simply the wrong choice in a possibility space where much better options would have been available.
Criminals did not get your message. Our communities are experiencing a 45% increase in shootings and a 62% increase in gun-related homicides compared to this time last year. What difference does your handgun ban make when 85% of guns seized by our members can be sourced to the United States?
Your statement is out of touch and offensive to victims of crime and police officers everywhere. Whatever you think you’ve done to improve community safety, has not worked. @JustinTrudeau
The ending to Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns started in January 2022 at the Royal Rumble.
Seth Rollins won via DQ when Reigns showed his true achilles heel: He wasn't over Seth's betrayal of The Shield. Rollins entered to Shield music, through the crowd to remind him of what he did. Roman grew more and more frustrated throughout the match and ended up brutalising him with the same weapon Rollins used on that day in 2014, a chair.
Fast forward to the Main Event of WrestleMania 40, Rollins interfered as Cody Rhodes's "Shield". Which in itself was a shot at Roman's weakness. But the Shield Music, Entrance, lack of offence and the chair... it was a set up.
He wasn't supposed to attack anyone. He brought the chair with him knowing that if Roman saw the opportunity, if he showed his back to him, Reigns would get distracted from Cody and finally get revenge for what Seth did. Ultimately, it was Seth Rollins's sacrifice that opened the door for Cody to win.
In that defining moment Cody defeated Reigns physically, but Rollins defeated him mentally. Just like in 2014, with a single chair to the back, Seth Rollins took everything from Roman Reigns. 🔥
