Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal said that everybody makes mistakes when asked about the five acquitted players from the s*xual assault case being allowed back into the NHL.

"Those guys have been through the whole thing and came out acquitted. I'm sure all of them regret what went on and what happened but are moving forward and moving on. Everyone makes mistakes, including myself. As an 18-year old kid, I've done some stupid stuff. I went to jail. I had to go through a lot of crap because of it, and it wasn't fun."

Staal was arrested for misdemeanour disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process at his brother Eric's bachelor party in 2007.
